Kona arrived at 10 am.  There were a lot of bugs in the strands and very little sample was collected so it was discarded.  She took the top plate, strand frames, drip plate and tube to wash at the sink with 409.  The body was washed with 409 and DI rinse.  The collecting bottle was rinsed and reused; system reset and activated.

Kona arrived at 10 am to find ~100 mL sample collected.  She disassembled the top plate, drip plate and strand frames and washed with 409 and DI at the sink, the body of the apparatus was washed with 409 and DI.  A blank was collected, a new collecting bottle was attached, and the system was tested and activated for fog collection tonight.

Kona arrived at 9:30 am to find the doors open and no sample collected, but the top plate was not attached to the apparatus.  She washed the frames and top plate with soap and water at the sink, rinsed the bottle with DI, washed the apparatus body with 409 and a DI rinse.  1st test run the big fan moved then stopped, 2nd went well.  System activated and ready for collection.

Kona arrived at 10 am.  The doors had opened and less than 20 mL were collected.  The top plate, strand frames and drip plate were removed and washed with soap and water.  The water in the collecting bottle was discarded and rinsed with DI.  The apparatus body was washed with 409 and rinsed thoroughly with DI.  The system was then reset for fog collecting.

Kona arrived at ISB at 9:15 am.  The collector doors were open, no sample collected, and the system was running fine.  She took out and washed the strand frames, tray and collecting bottle (the bottle was only rinsed with DI).  The rest of the apparatus was washed with 409 and DI water.  She ran a test run and then activated the system.  Ready for fog collection.

140625 UCSC Observations

Kona arrived at the ISB greenhouse at 9:00 am.  There was no fog sample collected and the collector doors had NOT opened; the system had crashed.  She manually restarted the system by unplugging the main power and followed with a test run which was successful.  She removed the collecting bottle and rinsed it with DI water.  The apparatus with everything else intact was spray rinsed with DI water.  The system was then activated and ready for fog collection.

140627 UCSC Observations

Kona arrived at ISB at 9 am.  The collector doors were closed and the fog pi system had crashed; no fog water collected.  She rinsed the collecting bottle and frames with DI water at the sink, spray rinsed the rest of the apparatus, ran a test run and activated the system.  Ready for fog collection.
